The one and only album from The Parlour Band originally released in 1972 via Deram Records reissued 2010 on CD via Esoteric Recordings. Featuring Craig Anders (guitar, vocals), Mark Anders (bass, vocals), Peter Filleul (keyboards, guitar, vocals), Pix (lead vocals) and Jerry Robins (drums), The Parlour band was a melodic Progressive outfit who excelled vocally and toured extensively as support act to bands such as Caravan and Khan, but failed to make a commercial impression, despite the excellence of their work, leaving behind their sole album for Deram as their recorded legacy.

A new release on vinyl is being offered up for sale on eBay; the seller apparently has 10+ copies, but I now have my doubts... eBay linkI ordered this album from him the day that he advertised it - Friday 25th Feb - and it was apparently posted on the Sunday, but almost a fortnight later I have yet to receive it. Looking at the seller's feedback he seems to have 'previous' for 'sending stuff' which never arrives, so perhaps it doesn't exist? The bar code is 0889397107796 but if i put that into Discogs it is unrecognised. I'll give him a couple more days and then ask where it is, but I fear the worst.

Looks like an Audio Clarity release which according to discogs is a Russian bootleg label.
I bought a vinyl copy a few years ago and it was on the Era label once again a bootleg of questionable quality.

I bought a vinyl copy a few years ago and it was on the Era label once again a bootleg of questionable quality. Ah... And being Russian probably won't arrive anyway now... Bugger! Wouldn't mind, but I sold my CD (cheaply) a few years ago when I ripped them all to mp3.

Well... it's arrived! And to my not-so-young-and-perfect ears it sounds fine. There are a few ticks and clicks - new vinyl is still always plagued by these, I'm afraid; it's rare to get a completely silent brand new vinyl copy of anything! Someone has cocked up on the track listings though (see photo below)... The bonus track for the CD, 'Runaround', appears as track 6 on Side One! The end of Side Two is confused, listing the final track as 'To Happiness Home - Once More Loneliness' rather than the separate parts of ' Home' being itemised as parts a) Once More Loneliness b) Fortress c) HomeBut overall, I'm happy to have a vinyl copy that plays well and I'm going to be spinning this a lot over the next few days!

I'd never really listened to this too often before, so here are a few observations... - I had never realised that the vast majority of the lead vocals were taken by Pete Filleul; I had always assumed that Pix took on that role
- 'Spring's Sweet Comfort' certainly displays elements of 'Sidewalk Ship' in the guitar parts, as does the keyboards intro of 'Home/Once More Loneliness'
- 'Goldie' has the roots of 'Long Way To Go' - again, check that guitar break!

The CD bonus track, 'Runaround' - what do we know about it? It doesn't appear to have been a single - was it simply left off the album? And if so, why?
Does the CD booklet give us any information?

Probably been bootlegged from the Esoteric cd which was from the master tapes and of course had the bonus track.
